Jack was an avid golfer, twice winning the annual club championship and serving as President of Riverside Country Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature and had been a Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited for many consecutive years and was recognized in by Century Saskatoon for his contribution to sports. His contributions to the Saskatoon community have been varied and numerous. Jack was an avid bird hunter and fisherman and over the years enjoyed the time spent with his family, Vi and Gord, and many friends in these pursuits.

After travelling south for many years Jack and Vi purchased a house in Phoenix, Arizona in , which became their second home during the winter months.

They soon made life long friendships with their new neighbors, and hosted their many northern friends, particularly enjoying visits from son Gordon. Jack enjoyed life to the fullest, a good husband, father and friend; he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by son Gordon and his many close friends and associates.
